The idea of a circuit is that electricity flows through components from positive to negative. Â You can see below that we had to add a plastic layer to separate the two legs of each LED. Without the insulation, there would be no need for the electricity to go through the LED. It could just make the circuit back to the battery. Â With the insulation in place, the electricity has to go through the LED back to the battery to form the circuit, so completing the circuit and lighting up the LEDs.
