This fun egg rolling activity kept my children occupied for hours. We recorded how long it took boiled eggs to roll down our slide and then wrapped them in different materials to see if that affected their speed. Younger children will just enjoy rolling the eggs, but for older children, you can spend time planning…
Baking soda experiments have always been very popular with my children. They are such fun, fizzy reactions that can be used in many creative ways. We’ve made baking soda ice before, but this time I added a little twist by making it Easter egg-shaped. We also made some without baking soda and hid a toy…
This post is all about adding a bit of science sparkle to role-play. The activities should hopefully add a stimulating and educational twist to an already fun game. My little boy is usually a bit reluctant to join in with role-play games, but if I add in a task or some props, he is much…
A few days ago, we noticed that one of our little pumpkin plants on the window sill had wilted. The soil looked dry, so we watered the plant, and after a few hours, it was standing lovely and straight again. This got us wondering why plants need water. Why do plants need water? Plants need…

Autumn is a brilliant time of year for outdoor science activities in the forest. Find out why leaves change colour in autumn, create rafts and dens with sticks, collect treasures such as pinecones, conkers and acorns and learn to identify trees and plants. Create a wildlife journal and record the animals and plants you see…

One of my favourites of Kerry’s experiments is her play doh brain, so when we found an old pack of play-doh in the cupboard I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. Â First, we learned some fun facts and then made a model brain. Fun brain facts for kids Did you…
