Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Science Activities

February 7, 2022 By Emma Vanstone 1 Comment

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a great book to use for science investigation inspiration. Make fizzy potions with baking soda and vinegar, think about growing and shrinking, learn about the animals featured in the book ( the White Rabbit, Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat ), create your own backwards clock and lots more!

    Reversing Arrows

All kinds of weird and wonderful things happen to Alice during her adventures in Wonderland. Which arrows should she follow through the maze, and can she trust the arrows are correct?

This activity shows you how to make reversing arrows using a nifty trick of light!

    Magical Potions

Baking soda potions are always fun to make; you only need water, food colouring, baking soda and vinegar.

Try experimenting with different amounts of baking soda, vinegar and washing up liquid ( dish soap ) to find the perfect combination!

If you use red cabbage indicator instead of coloured water, the potion will even change colour!

Dissolving at the Mad Hatter Tea Party

Investigate dissolving with a Mad Hatter theme. Does sugar dissolve faster in cold, warm or hot liquids? How about pepper or salt?
